New PhatDad-RC billet engine brace kits. This 3-piece set is made of 1/4" thick 6061 Billet Aluminum. They are cleared properly for the body mounts including the mounts on the 5T so they will fit the 5T and 5B without modification. The left brace is also cleared properly for the PhatDad Fan Brace. Rear Skid Plate (fits all versions of the HPI Baja 5B & 5T)


The stock rear end of the HPI Baja 5B & 5T is not designed for low-end protection since the stock set-up has nothing in the back that needs protecting. However, large rear-mounted aftermarket exhaust pipes expose a critical weakness in the lack of protection those two tubes provide.

The RPM rear skid plate eliminates that weak point by eliminating those two tubes entirely. We replace them with a large, curved plate with seven huge skid rails measuring 1/4” wide by 3/16” tall that provide unmatched skid and impact resistance to the rear end. A small, open section was left to allow easy access to the clip holding the stock under-guard in place while closing up most of the back end so nothing can come up from the bottom to hit that expensive, aftermarket exhaust pipe. We also dropped the skid rails parallel to the lowest point on the chassis, helping reduce some of the impacts taken by the chassis and place it where it can be handled much better – by the RPM skid plate!

We made our rear skid plate beefy to handle tail-first landings or rear impacts, yet because it is made from our killer blend of proprietary materials, it can still absorb severe impact energy instead of transferring it into the more fragile and expensive chassis components.

#81972 Front Bumper & Skid Plate for the HPI Baja 5B

A lack of front-end protection of any R/C vehicle eventually results in hours of down time, replacing expensive chassis components from front-end impacts. The stock set-up on the HPI Baja 5B has virtually no protection up front since the bumper is tucked so far into the front of the vehicle. RPM steps in with some serious protection in the form of an all-new bumper specifically designed for this beast!

Our front bumper is a two-piece design, utilizing a skid plate and separate bumper that can be removed for racing. Each piece has specific design elements incorporated to dramatically improve the strength and durability of the HPI Baja 5B.

The RPM skid plate is attached to the chassis with four 5mm screws, not two like the stock version, effectively cutting transferred impact energy in half, divided equally among those four screws. Our skid plate also has huge skid rails all along its lower section and is a major part of the impact-absorption system. It extends up, out and away from the chassis, creating a large curved section that acts as a buffer zone that rapidly dissipates impact energy by compressing during a hit, slowing and absorbing that energy without transferring it into the more fragile components of the vehicle. Once the impact force dissipates, the memory characteristics of our trademark blend of RPM nylons will return the bumper to its original position.

The bumper itself is over 6-1/2” wide and is designed to prevent smaller objects such as fence and mailbox poles from slipping in-between the skid plate and the tires. Its added width tops off a perfectly balanced design that is strong, extremely durable and built to last!

DDM and Earth Surfer Products have teamed up to provide you with a top-quality fully ported Zenoah 30.5cc 4-Bolt engine. This engine has a 36mm cylinder bore and 30mm (+2mm) crankshaft, for a total of 30.5cc and an estimated HP output of 4.5hp (even more if you add a tuned pipe!) This is not just a a "quick and dirty" 20 minute milling machine port job. ESP ported engines are proven to be fast and reliable. They are fully hand ported from top to bottom by Earth Surfer Products. Your engine will have much more power in all RPMs (even the dead spot that most piped RC engines have before the power hits) and will still REV higher than stock. Earth Surfer products completely tears down the engine and spends hours, cutting in great detail, the porting that will have you grinning from ear to ear. Detail like this is almost impossible to do on a milling machine - even a CNC milling machine. Typical performance gains are in excess of 1 full horsepower increase. Here is a list of all the work E.S.P. does to the engine. Compare this to other offerings on the market and you will quickly see that DDM and E.S.P. put power in your trigger finger without putting a huge dent in your wallet.

DarkSoul CNC Lightened flywheel-

The new DarkSoul CNC lightened flywheels for use with all 2 or 4 bolt Zenoah or CY engines. These lightweight flywheels will give you better acceleration and smoother power delivery because, not only have the flywheels been lightened, but they have also then been balanced on a custom made prop style balancer, specifically made for this application. We have reduced the weight by about 30g. (1 ounce), this is pure rotating mass connected directly to the crankshaft, this alone will give significant gains.

Please keep in mind that although the flywheel has retained most of it's structural integrity, a lot of material has been removed, and therefore makes for a more delicate unit. Please be sure that you have the flywheel well protected by one of the many DIY or aftermarket available mesh mods. Because of the nature of this item, there is no warranty of any kind offered with it. If gravel and other debris can enter the engine flywheel area, damage will occur to the flywheel.

Threshold has recently released a seal that drastically reduces the leakage from the Stock Baja SS shocks. The installation of the seals is an easy task that will take just a few minutes of your time. The kit includes seals for 4 shocks and all the accompanying hardware needed including a nifty little installation tool. Inertia Racing Products is proud to introduce a new product for the IRP Turnbuckles. These new Billet Standoff Spacer Kits replace the stock, flat plastic spacer and include a spacer for the inner rod end as well.
These are a 1 piece 3 step design that have multiple benefits.

1) they are a sleeve design that fit into the rod end ball and eleminate ALL OF THE STEERING SLOP. the IRP turnbuckle allready reduced the slop without the new standoff and now it is all eleminated. this is very important to Oval and On-road racers when setting the toe, as well as dirt course racers when track conditions change. another benefit of the sleeve design is just that much more strength at the rod end.

2) With the 2nd step in the spacer design being the exact diameter of the ball allows for maximum articulation of the suspension arms and improves the overall steering geometry thus decreasing the likelyhood of of binding on the servo wiper arm when and if you have that nasty one wheel lander right or left side.

3) With the 3rd step being the same diameter as the stock plastic spacer you will not lose the surface area against the outer steering arm and the inner servo wiper arm. now with that said the 3rd step was critical in the design to allow the maximum articulation.the stock plastic spacer is flat and has the tendency to bind when the suspension is maximum compressed.

These standoff spacers were originaly designed for the guys running the FLM extended a-arms. the FLM stock turnbuckles created a tremendous bind on the servo wiper arm when the suspension was compressed and they also have the so called " bad spot " during suspensin articulation. that issue has now been resolved.

During the testing process we discovered that these standoff spacers also worked very well and improved the stock length turnbuckle sets as well. these kits are an excellent upgrade for all IRP Turnbuckles.

Included are 2 stainless M4x22mm socket head screws to replace the stock length M4x18mm.

Turtle Racing 1pc. Brake Mount: This brake mount replaces the plastic caliper, the black plastic gear plate closure (hpi# 85436), brake mount, all in one billet aluminum piece. Each unit will include 1pc. Brake Mount, brake pad pins, set screws, brake pad springs and flanged bearing.
The TR 1pc. Brake Mount also makes assembling the brake system a LOT easier since it is assembled off the Baja and simply drop the assembly into place and fasten. The brake pad springs hold the pads apart (also simplifying assembly) so there is no dragging while driving and since there is constant pressure on the brake pad they eliminate dirt and debris from getting behind the brake pad and causing binding and malfunction. The TR 1pc. Brake Mount is intended for use with the TR Tranny Plate, but will work with the stock trans plate and CF trans plate with some modification to the stock plate. John Shultz of HPI has been using the TR 1pc Brake Mount on his HPI 7075 Tranny Plate.

New from IRP, Steel Racing Rod Ends for the front and rear upper control arms. this was not an easy proposition due to many issue. The major issue with these was the articulation and clearance issues, geometry, compatability with different a-arm manufactures, and the use of mostly existing stock parts, and durability.

The articulation issue is resolved by a unique " 2 piece high angle standoff ", there will be 2 standoffs per rod end,1 top and 1 bottom. these are made of steel, not billet so they will not wear over time against the steel rod end ball. you can see in the pics how unique these really are. the final version will be 1 to 2mm shorter on the top and bottom standoff. the stock rod end bolt will still be used. All prelim testing to this point show no change in the stock geometry.

The clearance issue is a bit touchy for the rear when used with stock axle hubs, i strongly advise using axle exteneders on the rear so the wheel flex issue does not come into play.

The compatability issue to this point is as follows, stock, rpm, flm and rc4wd a-arms were taken into account and so far so good...

Durability, these are hardend steel female rod ends, with chrome hard plated balls, there is no issue here.

The rears will come with the 2 rod ends,4 high angle standoffs, and a billet center spacer with washersfor each side that will allow for camber adjustability, simply add or subtract washers to get the desired positive or negative camber angle. The final version of the center spacer will have a 1 to 2mm deep and a 4mm wide groove cut in the center to clean up the looks . The stock tie rod is used so no need for any special tie rod.

The front rod ends are pretty staight forward, you will get 2 rod ends, 2 new button head screws to replace the stock screw thru the control arm, this is to get the proper threads for the rod ends, 4 high angle standoffs. the stock bolt will be used to go thru the rod end ball, the stock camber spacers are still used as well.
